A working miniature piano

This was really fun to assemble. The instructions were clear, and the pieces were easy to remove. I worried it wouldn’t actually play because the sound test didn’t work at first, but the finished piano can play music. That made the build especially satisfying.

Beautiful finished model

The model looks stunning and the instruction manual is helpful. My only complaint is that the gears need to be glued carefully; if they aren’t aligned properly, they may not run smoothly. Use glue that gives you time to adjust the gear teeth. I love the color and vintage-piano look.

Fun and detailed build

I’d never assembled anything like this before, and it was a fun, engaging challenge. The model feels sturdy and really functions like a piano. I learned to play a couple of simple tunes on it. The gears are the trickiest part, and getting the glue and gear spacing right can take care. The instructions mention this, though I still found it challenging. Overall, I’m very pleased and can imagine it being passed down.

A favorite build

I’ve built more than 200 miniature models, and this is my favorite. I worked on it on and off over about two and a half days. It feels sturdier than expected and the materials are good quality. I used a brown marker to touch up the exposed wood edges for a richer finish. The gears move when the keys are pressed, and it uses three AA batteries. Follow the written instructions rather than relying only on the photos, as some pictured wire placements can be confusing. Handle the flexible wooden skirt carefully, since it can break if bent too far. Take your time and enjoy the build.
